La Bianchina was abandoned in the early fifties when the poor soil could no longer support a family.

 

Surrounding farmers used the house as stable for their sheep, until thirty years ago a group of young people, trying for a more natural life, moved to Umbria and discovered the vacant farmhouse. They breathed new life into it.

 

One of these youngsters was Nazzaro Maggi. For years he lived here as a shepherd. He produced ricotta and cheese in the traditional way. His.products, which they gave the name Formaggi, were a success and he made an adequate living.
